Barley Pass - Poor Spring
The spring season of the poor Barley Pass sung by Jeon Yujin
Barley Pass means a very difficult time in terms of food situation, in April or May, when the crops harvested in the fall of last year run out, and the barley cultivated this year is not ripe.
It was during the Japanese colonial period that Barley Pass was structurally established and experienced annually in Korea. It can be said that it was after the implementation of the Five-Year Economic Development Plan in the late 1960s that Koreans came out of the Barley Pass.
As the income of Koreans increases along with economic growth and the living environment improves, the term “Barley Pass” is not realistic in South Korea.
